Fried Apple Pies

Pie crust

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  1. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Cut in butter.
  3. Add egg and milk and mix to soft dough.
  4. Roll out thin and cut into 5-inch circles.

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked dried apples
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • fat for frying
  1. Place cooked dried apples on circles.
  2. Sprinkle with spices and sugar.
  3. Fold over, wet edges with milk, and seal with fork.
  4. Fry in hot fat until golden brown.
  5. Drain and serve warm.
